LDA Appathon Athens 2015 competition






As part of the activities of the EC co-financed  “Large Scale Demonstrator in Athens” project (www.ldathens.eu), the Greek Research and Technology Network (GRNET), in collaboration with SAP HELLAS and LUCIAD, and the support of:

       the Hellenic Association of Mobile Application Companies (HAMAC)

       the National Observatory of Athens (NOA)

       the National Cadastre and Mapping Agency SA (NCMA)

       the Atlantis Research Organization and

     INNOVATHENS, hub of innovation and entrepreneurship, Technopolis City of Athens

 is organizing the LDA Appathon Athens 2015 competition and invites all interested parties to participate. The app camp will take place  at Innovathens (100 Piraeus Ave, Gazi, 11854 Athens, GREECE, tel.  +30 213 0109300) on the 29th and 30th of October 2015. Each participating team is asked to develop, within a timeframe of 36 hours, a B2B mobile prototype application that would utilize the SAPHANA Cloud Platform and LUCIAD solutions. The app should solve a  real life/business problem using earth observation Copernicus,  as well as, other satellite navigation data. During the first 3 hours of the Appathon, participants will join a Design Thinking session, where the process will focus on needfinding, understanding, creating, thinking, and doing. Two weeks prior to Appathon, on October 14th, participants will be invited to join a full day workshop on the SAP HANA Cloud platform and LUCIAD, in order to become familiar with those tools.

Participants are expected to have a background in computer science, geomatics or related fields and be familiar with widely used programming and standard relational database management languages (e.g. Java, C++, .net, SQL).
